PETALING JAYA: Khairuddin Aman Razali’s dismissal from the PAS central committee has triggered a war of words among PAS leaders, one of them being Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Md Nor.
Sanusi, also a central committee member, said “certain individuals” should not “try to be clever” when voicing their views on social media, Utusan Malaysia reported.
“One saying I have always followed is, ‘Being clever is a good thing, trying to be clever isn’t’.
“The act of posting on Facebook is considered as trying to be clever,” he was quoted as saying by the Malay daily.
“There is no need to put up Facebook posts. No matter how good we are at writing, there’s no need to try too hard to be clever when we write.”
Though he did not mention any names, it is believed that Sanusi was alluding to Bachok MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Aziz who in a Facebook post yesterday, called for an urgent public explanation on Khairuddin’s dismissal.
Nik Mohamad Abduh, who admitted to being Khairuddin’s close friend, said doing so would create a better public perception of PAS, since the issue involved an MP and a former minister.
When contacted by FMT, Khairuddin told reporters to personally ask PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan the reasons behind his dismissal.
Takiyuddin had previously said that Khairuddin’s dismissal was not due to differences of opinion, dismissing rumours that it was related to issues surrounding Perikatan Nasional and Muafakat Nasional.
He added that no one had ever been fired due to a difference of opinion, “unless the action ran against the party constitution, as that would be a disciplinary offence.”
Sanusi today said PAS is not obliged to reveal in detail the reasons behind Khairuddin’s dismissal, adding that the previous explanation given was sufficient.
“We don’t need to reveal the details because doing so would result in other problems.
“I think Khairuddin himself knows the reason and even the friend who posted on Facebook knows.” - FMT
