Kota Tinggi Umno Youth today announced that it will not support former Johor assemblypersons from Bersatu if they get nominated to contest for Umno in the upcoming state election.
This comes after a local Malay daily reported that three former state assemblypersons from Bersatu are quitting their party and will rejoin Umno.
Division youth chief Johan Azam Mohd Yasin said they will not support "political frogs".
"An initial news piece published by Utusan Malaysia stated that three former state assemblypersons are going to leave Bersatu and rejoin Umno.
"This action has no other intention than to defend their respective seats by using Umno as a tool.
"Thus, Kota Tinggi Umno Youth would like to state our stand that we will never ever support the incumbent N37 Johor Lama assemblyperson Rosleli Jahari and N36 Sedili Rasman Ithnain to represent BN in this state election," Johan said in a statement published on the division youth wing's Facebook page earlier today.
Rosleli and Rasman used to be with Umno, before they defected to Bersatu in 2018.
Earlier today, Utusan in its report claimed that three Bersatu Johor state assembly members are expected to announce their resignation from the party and jump to Umno. - Mkini
