JOHOR BAHRU: Tebrau Bersatu division chief Mazlan Bujang will clear the air on rumours that he plans to leave the party at a special press conference tomorrow.

“Just wait for tomorrow’s press conference. All will be answered tomorrow,” the former Johor Bersatu chief told FMT.

The special press conference will be held at 2pm tomorrow next to the Johor Umno building.

It is understood that two other former assemblymen from Bersatu are expected to join Mazlan, who is the Puteri Wangsa incumbent, at the press conference.

Speculation has swirled for several days that Mazlan would be leaving the Muhyiddin Yassin-led party to join another political outfit.

On Monday, Mazlan said he would not be contesting in the upcoming Johor state elections under Bersatu’s banner, though he remained a party member.

He said he was no longer “on the same page” with Muhyiddin, adding that he could not stay with the party under the former prime minister’s leadership because of differing principles.

In GE14, Mazlan garnered 37,545 votes to win the Puteri Wangsa seat, defeating Barisan Nasional’s Abd Aziz Tohak (12,586 votes), PAS’ Abdullah Husin (2,654) and two independent candidates. - FMT
