A man who has an intellectual disability and is jobless was charged today for murdering his stepmother at a house in Kampung Batu Machang, Kelantan, last week.
The accused, Abdul Aziz Abdullah, 33, was charged in the Gua Musang Magistrate’s Court.
He holds a disabled person (OKU) card and only nodded after the charge was read to him before Judge Tengku Shahrizam Tuan Lah.
According to the charge sheet, the accused was charged with murder by causing death to Rahana Abd Razak, 55.
The offence was committed in a room at a house in Kampung Batu Machang, Jerek, Gua Musang, between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Feb 16.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
The prosecution was represented by deputy public prosecutor Asmah Che Wan while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
The court set April 21 for mention while awaiting a chemistry and post-mortem report of the deceased.
Previously, Malaysiakini reported that a woman was found dead with a severe neck injury, allegedly slashed by her stepson.
The deceased was found in the living room and was believed to have been murdered at 4.55pm.
Gua Musang police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the suspect, who is also a mental health patient and drug addict, surrendered himself to the police and admitted to committing the act. - Mkini
