KOTA KINABALU: Former Warisan vice-president Peter Anthony today announced his new party named Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM).
He said the party’s registration had been approved by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) on Feb 18.
“The first meeting will be held on March 13, where we will elect the central committee members,” he said when met at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport this evening.
Limbahau assemblyman Juil Nuatim was appointed deputy president of the party.
Anthony said the party will seek to join the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.
“As a small party, we need to work together in developing Sabah. It’s time for political parties in Sabah to work together so that our government will be strong, just like Sarawak’s,” said Anthony, who is Melalap assemblyman.
He and Nuatim quit Warisan on Dec 27, claiming that the Shafie Apdal-led party had “strayed from its true path”. Peter was state minister for infrastructure development when Warisan headed the state government. - FMT
