Muda has landed in hot water over social media posts shared last night on Facebook and Twitter.
The now-deleted posts included an illustration of four figures representing BN, Pakatan Harapan, PKR, and Perikatan Nasional holding hands.
The caption on Kedah Muda’s Facebook post read: “Don’t let corruption destroy national institutions”.
In a statement today, Muda information chief Luqman Long apologised.
“I received a Facebook post from Kedah Muda late last night. This post was clearly made to cause misunderstanding to the public and does not adhere to any clear principles in Muda,” he said.
Following a discussion with Kedah Muda’s information officer, he said, it was found that this post did not receive authorisation and was deliberately posted with malicious intentions.
Luqman has taken full responsibility for the incident - with Kedah Muda’s information officer suspended from any activities related to the party.
“This in no way denies that mistakes on my part have tarnished good relations between Muda and other opposition members.
“So, I apologise for this untoward incident and stand ready to take responsibility as Muda’s information chief with whatever decision and disciplinary action from Muda,” he said.
The image was also posted on Muda’s Twitter account with the saying: “Harapkan pagar, pagar makan padi.” (Misplaced hope in someone could be destroyed by the same person)
The posts contradict previous statements made by Muda's central committee on its opposition partners.
On Feb 7, party president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman said they want all opposition parties to stay united.
Prior to that, in an interview with Malaysiakini, a number of its leaders expressed the desire to see a united opposition against a common enemy and corruption. - Mkini
