Anwar, Rafizi working well together - PKR vice president

In spite of their long history of open disagreements, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and deputy president Rafizi Ramli seem to be getting along just fine.

According to PKR vice-president Chang Lih Kang, the duo are “working well” together after Rafizi won the party deputy president position in July.

“I can see Anwar giving a lot of space to Rafizi to lead, especially on important matters like seat negotiations and election preparations.

“I think they are working well and Rafizi also consults our president every now and then.

“Their communication has been quite good,” Chang (above) said in an interview with Malaysiakini and KiniTV today.

Wooing fence-sitters

Speaking on election strategies, the Tanjung Malim MP said the party is pushing out new approaches to address fence-sitters.

He cited the Ayuh Malaysia campaign as an example.

“I think this time around the fence-sitters, of all races, are kingmakers.

“We can see the number of fence-sitters growing, they are less hardcore for political parties,” he added.

Chang said the urban poor and youth underemployment are among the issues PKR is keen on solving.

“We can’t only point out the problems with our government but have no solution ourselves.

“That is why besides using our party platform we also created Ayuh Malaysia to address the fence-sitters' concerns,” he added.

PKR launched Ayuh Malaysia recently to boost voter turnout to close to 80 percent in the next general election.

It kicked off with a campaign truck event nationwide to address voter fatigue, with poor turnout threatening to scuttle PKR and Pakatan Harapan's chances at the next polls.

It also aimed to attract first-time voters, fence-sitters and those who have turned away from the coalition since 2018.

The truck is focused on campaigning in 50 PKR marginal seats nationwide.

The truck will be used to hold political rallies and discussions in constituencies across the country, to reinvigorate interest in politics leading up to the polls. - Mkini
