KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice-president K Saraswathy has filed a police report against MIC president SA Vigneswaran and another top party leader for alleged defamation.
Saraswathy said the report was lodged against the duo after she came across a video of them allegedly badmouthing her and coaxing other MIC members to launch attacks against her.
The 54-year old lawyer claimed the video and audio recording had gone viral.
In her report, Saraswathy claimed the attack was systematically carried out to prevent her from questioning MIC leaders over the alleged abuse of public funds through entities linked to the party.
The entities mentioned in her report were the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra), Maika Holdings, Maju Institute of Educational Development, and Yayasan Strategik Sosial.
“Their motive was to hurt my reputation as a female Indian leader in the opposition,” she said at a press conference after lodging the report at the Sentul district police station here today.
When contacted, Vigneswaran briefly told FMT the PKR vice-president was “only good for cheap publicity”.
FMT is withholding the name of the other MIC leader pending his comment about the allegation. - FMT
