KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Baharuddin Ahmad is set to be appointed Federal police Special Branch director.
Baharuddin, who was acting director of the intelligence division of the police force, will have Datuk Mohd Khalid Ismail as his deputy.
Baharuddin succeeds Datuk Seri Zamri Yahya who retired in August.
The New Straits Times was made to understand that a transfer order involving senior police officers, will be issued soon.
The reassignments are expected to take effect from Oct 25.
It is also learnt that Johor deputy police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin will be appointed Federal Internal Security and Public Order deputy director.
Deputy Commissioner M. Kumar S. Muthuvelu, who had served as principal assistant director (asset forfeiture) at the federal Narcotics Crime Investigation Department will take over Khaw's Johor office.
It is also learnt Datuk Muhammad Zaki Harun will be confirmed as Kelantan police chief with Datuk Azman Ayob, who is currently Kuala Lumpur Crime Prevention and Community Safety chief, as his deputy. Zaki has been acting Kelantan police chief for some time now.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Jalaludin Hamid, the Johor Special Branch chief, is set to be the new Federal Special Branch principal assistant director with the rank of Deputy Commissioner.
It is understood that Jalaludin's spot in Johor will be taken over by Senior Assistant Commissioner Nor Azizi Maarof, the Penang Special Branch intelligence and operations deputy chief. - NST
