BN leaders are using Perikatan Nasional chief Muhyiddin Yassin's declaration of war against them, to create divisions in the latter's coalition.
This is as Bersatu and PAS appear to have differing ideas on whether BN or Pakatan Harapan was their main enemy in the 15th general election.
Taking to Facebook, BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (above) suggested that maybe Muhyiddin wanted PN and Harapan to work together.
"It is not strange that Harapan was not declared as PN's main enemy even though Muhyiddin has said that Harapan was not in line with the struggle of Malays, Muslims, and Malaysians.
"Maybe he still hopes to make PN work with Harapan... Quite likely one party that is confused by Muhyiddin's announcement is PAS," he said.
The PN chief and Bersatu president yesterday said that "all PN component parties" agreed that BN would be their main enemy.
However, just five days before that, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said that the party's "real enemy" was Harapan, not BN.
PAS has made it no secret that they are still trying to forge cooperation with Umno, with the former saying there was a strong chance for the duo's Muafakat Nasional pact to be revived.
Muhyiddin said he would seek answers on the matter.
Meanwhile, Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan said these differences of opinion would make for interesting political drama in days to come.
"The top leaders from the parties do not seem to be on the same page, and we shall wait and follow political developments in the next few days,” he said. - Mkini
