PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has reminded developers of an apartment complex in Bukit Dinding – a popular hiking trail – not to start work until discussions with the residents are held.

In a statement, DBKL reiterated that no work should be carried out until residents were fully-informed about the development, which had seen huge opposition from residents in the area over safety concerns.

The site is prone to landslides.

DBKL said the site was first approved for development in 2004, while a revised plan for a residential development and a clubhouse was given the green light in 2018.

It also noted that the development plan was endorsed by independent consultants hired to assess the stability of the slopes at the suggested site.

On Monday, the Malay Mail reported that residents of Setiawangsa and Wangsa Maju were opposing a residential development at the foothills of Bukit Dinding.

The report noted that residents were concerned about the development as the steep hillside could worsen existing landslide problems. - FMT
