No 'war' in Sabah as PN-led GRS seeks BN's cooperation for GE15

Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will continue to support BN candidates in the forthcoming 15th general election, contrary to the war cry sounded by Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin.

GRS chairperson Hajiji Noor said this was because his coalition has promised to work with BN to develop Sabah for its people jointly.

"Here in Batu Sapi, if the candidate is from GRS, we ask BN to also support them. If the candidate is from BN, we (GRS) will support them.

"This is because we are in one government, GRS and BN," said Hajiji (above) in his speech at a GRS function in Batu Sapi, Sandakan today, as reported by Astro Awani.

He added that cooperation between GRS and BN must be strengthened as ordinary Sabahans desire a stable government to represent them.

"We must learn from past political mistakes. Enough, we no longer need to be divided or be the divider.

"This time we hope to cooperate to the best of our capabilities and bring Sabah forward [...]," said Hajiji.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin in his speech at Bersatu's sixth-anniversary celebrations declared BN as PN's main enemy in GE15, despite resistance from components including PAS.

Muhyiddin had founded GRS in preparations for the last Sabah state polls, held on Sept 27, 2020, as a combination of BN, PN and Sabah-based parties, to contest against Pakatan Harapan and others.

‘Three more years to govern Sabah’

Separately, the online portal Free Malaysia Today quoted Hajiji as saying Sabah will not be having its state polls together with GE15 should Parliament be dissolved.

Dismissing speculations of state polls being held simultaneously as GE15, he said such rumours were untrue.

"We still have three more years to govern Sabah.

"What is important is that we continue to strengthen GRS, the coalition representing the people of various races and religions in Sabah," he reportedly said.

Hajiji added that all the component parties in GRS, including Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and STAR, have agreed to use the GRS symbol in GE15. - Mkini
