The one-day Johor state legislative assembly sitting is too short to debate important issues, rued DAP's Mengkibol state assemblyperson Chew Chong Sin.
In a statement today, he said all the 56 state representatives must be given adequate time to debate matters of importance in Johor.
"A notice was issued by state legislative assembly that the next sitting will be convened on Sept 22 for just one day.
"There are 56 assemblypersons in Johor and each of us is entitled to submit a maximum of 11 questions.
"This means that only 10 questions out of 616 total questions collected can be brought up in the one-day sitting," he said.
Meanwhile, he expected auditor-general reports to be submitted to the lawmakers in the upcoming sitting.
"With state election held in the first half of this year, the legislative assembly only had a seven-day session at the end of June, and another seven-day session is expected in November this year to present the Johor State Budget 2023.
"Therefore, if this session is only for one day, then Johor legislative assembly will only hold 15 sittings throughout the year," he said. - Mkini
