A PAS Youth delegate has called on party leaders to finalise its candidates’ list in advance, avoiding past mistakes when last-minute preparations had resulted in limited traction among voters.
Teluk Intan PAS delegate Nurhafizul Badrul Hisham said the candidates must be introduced to the voters ahead of an impending 15th general election.
"If we don't name the candidates, at least there are figures who must start moving now instead of confirming the candidates and setting up their social media with only a few days left (before nominations). By the time election is over, they only got one 'like'," he said.
Nurhafizul said he was involved in managing PAS candidates during the last Malacca state election and voters were not engaged with the candidates’ social media channels.
"So, we must resolve this, identify the figures to be fielded in GE15," he said in supporting a motion raised by Bangi PAS delegate Mohamad Firdaus Nor Fuza for 50 percent of PAS GE15 candidates to be selected among youths.
Meanwhile, Pendang delegate Saiful Syazwan Shafie said PAS must answer whether its youth members aged between 20 and 30 years old are ready to be fielded as candidates.
"This is the experience that we (PAS Youth) have.
"We want to be candidates and want to get support. But sometimes even our machinery is not complete," he said, adding that it was just a friendly reminder to the delegates.
Around 800 delegates from divisions nationwide gathered at a hotel in Alor Setar, Kedah for Day 2 of the 63rd PAS Youth muktamar, ahead of its main body gathering this weekend. - Mkini
