Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today said that the government's first secretariat meeting which he chaired at Umno headquarters on Tuesday was only meant for parties that founded the unity government.
This came after the Muda leadership complained that the party was left in the dark about it.
"It's okay, we have explained it. The meeting was actually for parties that founded the unity government.
"However, other parties would also be roped into the secretariat, because they also support this unity government," he told reporters when met at Unisel in Bestari Jaya, Selangor.
Anwar was responding to a request for his comments on Muda taking issue with the party not being invited to the meeting.
Vented frustration
Yesterday, its secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi vented his frustration over that matter on Twitter.
According to him, Muda did not receive an invitation to attend the meeting nor was the party informed about it.
After the meeting, Anwar announced that all parties in the government gave their commitment to work together in the upcoming elections for six states.
Leaders from other parties in the federal government including BN, Pakatan Harapan, GPS, GRS, and Warisan are also present.
It was understood that besides Muda, Sabah-based Social Democratic Harmony Party (KDM) was also not represented at the meeting. - Mkini
