Genting crash: Deceased was holding someone else's MyKad, say cops on mistaken identity situation

KUANTAN: Police have now correctly identified the seven victims who died in the Genting Highlands tourist van crash after family member confirmation.

Pahang police chief Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said it was Wong Ah Moi @ Wong Seh Moi, 83,who was killed in the accident and not Goh Siew Kim, 61, as initially reported.

He said this was a case of mistaken identity as Wong was holding Goh's MyKad.

Comm Ramli said that Goh survived the crash and was receiving treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

The others killed in the accident were Wong Choun Chiet, 49; Foong Ah Lan, 67; Lee Moy, 67; Ang Meng Hong, 62; Seow Mee Tin, 72; and Chang Them Kong, 70.

There were 14 people – including two drivers – in the vehicle during the incident which occurred at around 1.15pm Wednesday (Feb 8) at KM4.8 of Jalan Genting Highlands. - Star
