Let’s work as a bloc, Sng tells govt friendly smaller parties, indie MPs

PBM president Larry Sng has mooted for smaller parties and supporters of the unity government to discuss the possibility of working together as a bloc.

This came as Sng's party, together with Muda and Sabah-based Social Democratic Harmony Party (KDM), got left out from the government's first secretariat meeting chaired by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the Umno headquarters on Feb 7.

"Smaller parties and supporters of the government like PBM, Muda, KDM and independent MPs should sit down together this coming parliamentary sitting to discuss about working as a bloc.

"Politics is a numbers game and we need to consolidate our strength in order to remain relevant," Sng (above) said on social media.

When contacted, Sng confirmed that his party was not invited to attend the meeting on Tuesday.

On Feb 7, Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi complained that the party was left in the dark about the meeting.

Anwar later explained that the meeting was meant for parties that founded the unity government.

After the meeting, Anwar also announced that all parties in the government gave their commitment to work together in the upcoming elections for six states.

Leaders from other parties in the federal government including BN, Pakatan Harapan, GPS, GRS and Warisan were also present.

In December 2022, Sng expressed his disappointment that none of PBM's representatives got appointed as deputy ministers. - Mkini
