MACC: Two more businesspersons to be charged over Jana Wibawa

Two businesspersons are expected to be charged in court tomorrow in relation to the Jana Wibawa programme, according to a media notice issued today by the MACC.

The notice stated that the two individuals will be charged in the Session Courts in Shah Alam and Johor Bahru respectively.

“MACC has received permission to prosecute two individuals related to Jana Wibawa,” read the notice.

No other information has been disclosed in the MACC media notice.

This came after Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Segambut Bersatu deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad were charged in court with graft.

Earlier today, Wan Saiful was slapped with two bribe charges - first for soliciting a bribe of an unspecified amount and second for receiving a bribe of RM6.96 million between July 8, 2022, and Sept 30, 2022.

Meanwhile, Adam Radlan, who is also a businessperson, was charged with seeking a bribe of between 3.5 percent and 7 percent of the value of a project.

Both cases were linked to the Jana Wibawa programme, with Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin also being questioned by the MACC over the matter.

Jana Wibawa, an acronym for ‘Program Jana Ekonomi Pemerkasaan Kontraktor Bumiputera Berwibawa’, was a Covid-19 stimulus programme for contractors which are 100 percent bumiputera-owned introduced by the Muhyiddin administration in November 2020.

Parliament was told last week that the current administration had frozen Jana Wibawa projects worth RM5.7 billion, pending probes.  - Mkini
