KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, has conferred federal awards, medals and honours on 164 recipients in conjunction with the 2023 Federal Territory Day.
Present at the investiture ceremony held at Istana Negara was the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, his wife, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and Cabinet ministers were also present.
Agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu led the list of seven recipients conferred the Seri Mahkota Wilayah (SMV) award, which carries the Datuk Seri title.
According to a statement from the federal territories department, the other recipients were the prime minister’s department (JPM) senior deputy secretary-general, Sollehuddin Alyubi Zakaria; international trade and industry ministry secretary-general Isham Ishak; Malaysian ambassador to the UAE Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin; air force deputy chief Norazlan Aris; Orando Holdings Sdn Bhd managing director Eng Wei Chun; and Amechanus Holdings Sdn Bhd executive director Lawrence Yeo Chua Poh.
There were 15 individuals of the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW) award, which carries the title Datuk, including the JPM’s Sabah and Sarawak affairs division secretary Toisin Gantor, agriculture and food security ministry deputy secretary-general (policy) Azah Hanim Ahmad and Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim.
Also conferred the PMW were InvestKL CEO Azmi Zulkifli, KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd group CEO Shah Mahmood, UMW Toyota Motor president K Ravindran and UDA Holdings Sdn Bhd president Salem Kailany.
Several sportsmen also received the PMW in recognition of their contribution to the country, including former national footballer Lim Teong Kim, former national bowling queen Shalin Zulkifli, bodybuilder Syarul Azman Mahen Abdullah and former Malaysia Karate Federation coaching director P Arivalagan.
At today’s ceremony, 16 individuals were awarded the Johan Mahkota Wilayah (JMW), 19 received the Kesatria Mahkota Wilayah (KMW), 15 were conferred the Ahli Mahkota Wilayah (AMW) and 92 received the Pangkuan Mahkota Wilayah (PPW). - FMT
