Muhyiddin's ex-aide: MACC should probe Anwar's GE15 heli rides too

 

A former aide to former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin has urged the authorities to probe PKR and DAP's "huge" election expenditure.

In a statement last night, Marzuki Mohamad said both parties had a lot of campaign materials, ceramah stages, campaign vehicles and a large online presence.

"This does not include the (private) jet and helicopter trips used by (Pakatan Harapan chaiperson) Anwar (Ibrahim).

"Based on my rough estimate, PKR and DAP's campaign expenditure was in the hundreds of millions. Where did the money come from?

"PKR and DAP rule Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. Did PKR and DAP not receive any contributions from businesspersons or 'tauke' which did business with those governments? I'm just asking, not alleging," wrote Marzuki (above).

He was commenting on the ongoing MACC probe into Bersatu's finances, which has resulted in the freezing of some of the party's bank accounts.

MACC has not officially revealed the reasons behind the investigation.

However, sources privy to the investigation told Malaysiakini that the probe was linked to financial contributions from 10 contractors to Bersatu.

On Jan 31, Bersatu published its audited accounts for the year 2021 - which indicated an income of RM147,994,104 that year.

Of that amount, 99.8 percent of the revenue was derived from "sponsorship and donations".

On that note, Marzuki said it would be unfair for the MACC to only probe Bersatu when PKR and DAP had an allegedly large election expenditure.

"I believe the prime minister is someone who is fair and true to the principles of justice. Therefore, he should act fairly," he said. - Mkini
