PUTRAJAYA: Nik Nasarudin Zawawi has been appointed as the new secretary-general of the education ministry, effective today, chief secretary to the government Zuki Ali announced.
Nik Nasarudin, 57, has been in the public service for 32 years, starting as a teacher on Jan 12, 1988, before joining the administrative and diplomatic service scheme on Dec 16, 1996.
In a statement, Zuki said Nik Nasarudin has extensive experience in various fields including planning, implementation, monitoring of development projects as well as administration and human capital development.
“The holder of a bachelor’s and a master’s in economics from Universiti Malaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia respectively, he gained that experience after serving in the economic planning unit, the implementation coordination unit, the Prime Minister’s Department and the Pahang state secretary’s office.
“With his experience and credibility, I am confident he will be able to continue the ministry’s mission of ensuring a quality education system,” Zuki said. - FMT
