GEORGE TOWN: Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) is targeting to build 4,000 houses in Penang in the next five years.
With an estimated gross development value of RM1.25 billion, the development will be carried out in stages.
PR1MA has two plots of land in Penang, measuring 300 acres, to be developed as residential and mixed development projects.
It is PR1MA's continuous commitment to provide affordable housing in line with the government's target under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) to build 500,000 affordable housing units.
"Realising the needs and high demands for affordable housing, PR1MA is committed to developing more high quality affordable housing projects with affordable price tags.
"The project will be built in Penang and other strategic locations nationwide," PR1MA chief executive officer Datuk Seri Mohd Nazri Md Shariff said.
There are currently three PR1MA projects in Penang with 3,867 units, namely Residensi Pauh Permai, Residensi Bukit Gelugor Phase 1 dan Residensi Bukit Gelugor Phase 2.
Residensi Pauh Permai, with a total of 1,017 unit, was completed in 2021.
Residensi Bukit Gelugor Phase 1 is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2025 while Residensi Bukit Gelugor Phase 2 in the third quarter of 2016.
"PR1MA is not only responsible for developing residential projects but for the socioeconomic development of the PR1MA community which is sustainable.
"This will indirectly add value to the community and the ecosystem," Nazri added. - NST
