ALOR SETAR: Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir (pic) has had discussions with PAS leaders recently although the details have yet to be disclosed, says Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
"I was informed Mukhriz had met with five PAS leaders although I'm not sure where," Sanusi told Malay language daily Sinar Harian.
"I don't have details of the discussions because I wasn't there," the Kedah Mentri Besar added.
Sanusi, who is Kedah Perikatan Nasional chairman and PAS election director, hopes the discussions went well and encouraged Mukhriz to join either PAS or Perikatan.
"PAS is an inclusive party and we accept anyone who wants to join, including Mukhriz," he added.
Last month, Mukhriz, who is Parti Pejuang Tanah Air president, announced the party's withdrawal from the Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) coalition to focus on strengthening the party.
He also did not deny talk that the party might join Perikatan or Pakatan Harapan for the coming six state elections.
This led to the party's former chairman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, resigning from Pejuang, as he disagreed with his son's plans to withdraw from GTA and join the current unity government or Perikatan. - Star
