YOURSAY | Is KJ’s big comeback in the cards?

YOURSAY | ‘He's an opportunist, just like many others in BN.’

KJ being poached for Selangor, offers include MB-ship

Apanama is back: Khairy Jamaluddin, I suggest you take the risk and stand for the Selangor state election.

Aim for the menteri besar post by contesting under Perikatan Nasional, just like how Arau MP Shahidan Kassim did for the 15th general election. Who knows, you could be the next Selangor menteri besar.

At the moment, Selangor seems at risk of a green wave since there is a slim chance for Umno to win. It will also be tough for Pakatan Harapan.

Harapan could face an uphill battle to retain Selangor, especially with Malay voters leaning towards PN, as evident in the decreasing number of votes in the last general election. PKR and Amanah, in particular, will struggle to defend their seats in the 56-seat state assembly.

Complicating matters for Harapan there was a swing in Indian votes towards PN, which was evident in the Padang Serai (Kedah) election on Dec 7 last year.

One of the main factors was that the Indian community was not happy with Harapan, especially after the cabinet line-up was announced and there was only one Indian minister. They still see it as Indian, not as Malaysian. What can we do about this? Sixty-five years of policies along the racial line.

In Selangor, Harapan could only consider DAP’s seats, many of which have a majority of Chinese voters, as safe. Chinese voters are terrified of PN because of PAS’ influence, so they will stick to Harapan.

However, it won’t necessarily be the same for the Malay and Indian voters. This would be to PKR and Amanah’s detriment. Moreover, in November, people wanted to see Anwar Ibrahim become prime minister.

Now that Anwar is prime minister, Selangor voters may have different priorities when casting their ballot.

Khairy, you can try, but anything could happen from now to the end of June. Former Selangor menteri besar Azmin Ali also may try his luck for the last time.

So you, Azmin and Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari will also go for the MB post. Go and fight it out.

Annonymous: I disagree. Khairy is now playing the victim and desperately going around with a begging bowl for his political survival only after being kicked out of his high pedestal in Umno.

Only fools in Harapan would engage with this now desperate politician with the same Umno's DNA.

GreenKoala4364: Indeed. He's an opportunist, just like many others in BN. There is no way he will form a new party unless he is willing to spend a few hundred million like Bersatu to "buy" votes and parties to form the government.

Malay votes in the outskirts are difficult to swing over without the greasing effect of the ringgit. Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin knew this very well.

Khairy will likely ride on a rich party to take a position for his benefit. But now that Bersatu funds are frozen, he will likely sit out of the upcoming state elections if he doesn’t see any possibility of winning. As I said, just an opportunist.

Mushiro: Is there no one else in Malaysian politics? Khairy, whom I believe has not worked a single day, has not proven much and yet is a multi-millionaire or maybe even a billionaire.

Now we have the ‘cow gate’ scandal linked to former minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil making a comeback. What's happening to Malaysia?

AnotherKomentar: This story is to test if this Malaysian superhero will be welcomed to the helm as Selangor menteri besar. It’s also a mischievous scheme to confuse Harapan and friction between PKR and Umno.

Khairy doesn’t mind being used to end this unity government, as his political fortune lies in the ending Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s control of Umno.

Isn’t it a tad presumptuous to assume he will be in the winning team at the Selangor state election? PKR, DAP and Amanah would not accept his membership without ending the unity government. Even if he joins Bersatu, PAS or Gerakan, will Selangor elect a racist and extremist PN government?

R Venugopal: Khairy is marketing himself to show how important he is to the nation.

Please list out your achievements in your political career if you are not former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s son-in-law. Where will you be today?

Pocoyo: I have no idea what he brings, just because he is a politician and available it doesn't mean he's a benefit to anyone. Khairy is a product of BN. I am not sure what you hope to achieve with him.

Mohd Taib: Dear Khairy, don't forget you are still young. Don't make a wrong choice now. You just wait for the right time to rejoin Umno. I'm sure, only Umno will make you prime minister one day.

I wish you all the best, Khairy. - Mkini
