NILAI: Customs officers have seized 302kg of cocaine from a container at Port Klang after a tip-off from Saudi Arabia, and 126kg of ketamine in air cargo at Kuala Lumpur international airport.

Customs director-general Zazuli Johan said the authorities had received information from Saudi Arabia’s narcotics control unit about a 20-foot container that had arrived at Port Klang, Selangor.

Customs officers carried out a raid on June 6 and discovered 10 sacks containing white powder suspected to be cocaine, he said.

He said the syndicate hid the drugs in between other items and declared them as soybeans.

Zazuli said the container was from South America and was in transit to its destination in another Southeast Asian country but was detained on arrival at Port Klang.

He said the Customs also seized 107 plastic packages containing ketamine weighing 126.5kg from 15 boxes seized at the KLIA air cargo complex on arrival from a country in Europe.

False information was given in the import document making it difficult to identify the importer, Zazuli said. The drugs were declared as ceramic pots and vases.

He said 25 packets of ketamine weighing 25.3 kg were seized from a 20-foot freezer container carrying seafood which arrived from a South Asian country at on June 4.

Two local men in their 40s have been arrested to assist in the investigation, he said. - FMT
