PETALING JAYA: The case of a Year 1 pupil being locked in a makeshift cage in Negeri Sembilan has been settled after the child’s father forgave the teacher responsible.
Earlier today, a meeting was held, with the child’s parents, representatives from the school, the district education office and the police attending.
“Following the meeting, the victim’s father accepted the explanation from the teacher in question and forgave him,” Rembau police chief Hazri Mohamad said in a statement.
According to Hazri, the incident took place on the morning of June 27 at SK Astana Raja in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.
He added that police had yet to receive any reports on the matter.
Yesterday, education minister Fadhlina Sidek told FMT that she would look into the matter.
In the now viralled social media post, an individual by the name of Azuan Abd Ghafar uploaded a screenshot of a conversation between a parent and teachers in the school’s WhatsApp group on Twitter.
The father asked if his son had been locked up to segregate him from the rest of the class.
The father also shared a picture of a “metal cage”. A fuse box was spotted in the “cage”.
He then demanded that the teacher explain why his son had been locked up in a cage. - FMT
