PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has decided on its candidates for the state elections, with the exception of five or six seats that are yet to be resolved, PAS vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said.
Samsuri said PN would contest a total of 245 seats in the state assemblies of Kelantan, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Kedah and Penang.
At last week’s seat negotiations among PN partners, 97% of the seats had been confirmed, he said.
“As the elections have not arrived yet, there is still time for us to resolve it (seat allocation),” he said at a press conference in Kuala Terengganu yesterday.
For Terengganu, he confirmed that only one seat is still in discussion between PAS and Bersatu from the total of 32 seats available.
Samsuri said PAS will discuss the party’s state election candidates on Tuesday night.
Last week, a PN insider told Sinar Harian there was an overlap for some seats that had not been finalised during negotiations.
The state governments of the six states are expected to dissolve their state assemblies within weeks, paving the way for elections, which must be held within 60 days of dissolution. - FMT
