PETALING JAYA: Police are working to identify the victim and suspects of an assault that took place in Port Klang.
In a video of the incident, which had gone viral on social media yesterday, a group of four men were seen assaulting another man with sticks and baseball bats.
The victim is believed to be homeless.
Klang Selatan police chief Cha Hoong Fong said an investigation paper had been opened under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with the use of dangerous weapons or other means.
Those found guilty face a jail term of up to 10 years, a fine, or both.
“Police are attempting to identify the victim and ascertain the facts of the case. At the same time, efforts are underway to identify the suspects,” he said in a statement.
