KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has presented the names of candidates for the posts of Inspector-General of Police and Deputy Inspector-General of Police to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
The meeting that lasted for more than an hour from 2.45pm on Tuesday (June 20) was held at Istana Negara.
It is learnt that the name presented for the IGP post was Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, the current Deputy IGP.
It is also learnt that four names were presented for the Deputy IGP post.
Among them are Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin PItchay, Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Comm Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali, and Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Kamaruddin Md Din. However, the fourth name could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, Razarudin said he did not know about the matter.
"So far, I do not have any information on the names of candidates for the IGP and Deputy IGP posts.
"I leave the matter fully to the Home Minister and the government's leadership," he said when contacted.
IGP Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani had confirmed that he would be ending his tenure in the first week of July.
Acryl Sani, who took over the country's top cop post from Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador in June 2021, was supposed to end his tenure as IGP in October. - Star
