Pakatan Harapan and BN leaders will hold final seat negotiations this week to resolve overlapping claims on three state seats in Selangor.
“There will be a final discussion this week, and after that, we will finalise it,” said the Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.
He expressed confidence that the matter will be settled by the end of the month.
Amirudin (above) said this when speaking to reporters after a special address by prime minister Anwar Ibrahim to Selangor civil servants at the Dewan Jubli Perak in Shah Alam today.
Selangor Harapan and BN were previously reported to have failed to agree on three of the 56 state assembly seats.
The three seats were not named.
Meanwhile, Amirudin, also the Selangor Harapan chairperson, expressed confidence that the overlapping claims will be resolved after meeting the central leadership of the parties involved.
“There will be no overlaps. In fact, the discussions now are much better compared to the Pakatan Rakyat era,” he said.
“During the Pakatan era, even on election night, there were still overlapping claims,” he said.
Pakatan was the largest opposition coalition from 2008 to 2015, comprising PKR, DAP, and PAS.
The coalition was dissolved after PAS decided to go solo due following irreconcilable differences with DAP.
The Selangor state assembly will automatically dissolve on June 25 unless the state’s ruler agrees to dissolve it earlier upon request by the menteri besar. - Mkini
