PETALING JAYA: Many Malaysians have accepted the partnership between Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional in the government, according to DAP deputy chairman Gobind Singh Deo
Gobind believed that reception on the ground towards the unity government has been good over the past seven months since the formation of the Anwar Ibrahim-led administration.
“Personally, I have seen many that have accepted that the partnership is something that can be successful. So, for me, I don’t see any problem,” he told reporters after a DAP fundraising event here tonight.
The Damansara MP said the government has come up with several initiatives that allowed voters to “observe and analyse” the government’s effectiveness.
Gobind also said people understood the reasons for forming the unity government, and that they believed Anwar’s vision for Malaysia can be realised.
During the fund-raising dinner, Tony Pua, who was the previous Damansara MP, said PH must prove to doubters that “a multiracial party that is clean and not corrupt” could do better “than corrupt coalitions (sic) like Barisan Nasional, Umno and Bersatu”.
Pua said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is PH chairman, must complete his full term “as a popular prime minister” and prove PH’s detractors wrong while he is still in power.
He added that this would boost voters’ support for PH, allowing it to form the government on its own at the next general election and implement the reforms it wanted to. - FMT
