KUALA LUMPUR: The health ministry has taken note that two children born in a public health facility have suffered cerebral palsy.
The ministry said it would investigate the cases, which had been highlighted on social media, adding that it understood the difficulties faced by the patients and the affected families. It was always ready to help them, it said in a statement.
The ministry said this was a complex complaint and would be investigated thoroughly according to their guidelines.
“A review found that the complaints in both cases had been investigated at the hospital level and by the ministry. A further probe was carried out by the ministry’s legal advisory office.
“The management of cases like this takes a long time because it requires the involvement of various parties, including the medical experts involved and the Attorney-General’s Chambers,” it said.
The ministry said the complaint management process will only be stopped if the complainant or patient takes legal action.
The ministry said the complainants can contact it from time to time to know the status of the case. - FMT
