Kelantan PAS offered a slew of analogies in reference to its plan to launch a counter-offensive against its political rivals who have been bombarding the state government with criticisms.
Its deputy commissioner Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah (above) first likened the attacks to the “firing of blanks, which make a loud noise but do not inflict damage.”
As for now, he said Kelantan PAS is adopting a wait-and-see approach before launching a counter-offensive.
Following this, he said the situation is normal when there is an impending “war” (the upcoming state election).
“Biasalah… They attack, and then it is our turn (to attack). Kelantan PAS has not brought out its bullets yet.
“It is not like that we don’t have a counter-attack, it is just that the time is not right,” he was quoted as saying in Kota Bharu by Utusan Online.
Shifting from warfare to sports, Amar, who is also Kelantan deputy menteri besar, pointed out that the state legislative assembly has not been dissolved.
“The whistle has not been blown, how to start running?
“Wait till the referee blows the whistle, then we will unveil our buah-buah (a term to describe silat fighting techniques),” he added.
Opponents have no new issues
According to Amar, 90 percent of the issues raised are recycled and are raised with the aim of discrediting PAS instead of soliciting an explanation.
He claimed that PAS opponents have no new issues and therefore have to dredge up matters from the past that have been answered with facts.
Kelantan, which is referred to as “Serambi Mekkah (Mecca’s verandah)”, has been under the control of the Islamist party since 1990.
In the 2018 general election, PAS retained the state by capturing 37 of the 45 seats up for grabs.
Apart from Kelantan, PAS and the Perikatan Nasional coalition will also be defending two other states - Terengganu and Kedah.
On the other hand, three states under Pakatan Harapan will also go to the polls. These are Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang. - Mkini
