DAP chairperson Gobind Singh Deo said claims by Khairy Jamaluddin accusing the party of attempting to control caretaker Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun were false and baseless.
Gobind said DAP has always respected the institution of the menteri besar and fully supports the current leadership under the spirit of cooperation within the coalition government.
"Well, that (Khairy's claims) is not true. I think at the end of the day, we have worked very closely with the menteri besar in Negeri Sembilan and I think (DAP secretary-general) Anthony Loke has stated this many times.
"The menteri besar is the one in control. It is the menteri besar who ultimately makes the decisions," he told reporters after a DAP ceramah in Tangkak, Johor, last night.
On Sunday, Khairy said that Malays are protected in Negeri Sembilan because Umno was part of the state government.
The former health minister also said this was because there are only four Malays among Harapan assemblypersons in the state, which he said meant that the priority would be on non-Malays.
Commenting further, Gobind said the decision-making process at the state level always involves consensus and harmonious discussion among all component parties.
"But just like in other states, there is cooperation, we work together. Everyone's views are taken into account and ultimately what we want is to ensure the state succeeds.
"So, because of this, I feel that at the end of the day, that is not an appropriate statement, that is not a correct statement," the digital minister added. - Mkini
