MACC today continued recording the statement of a former chief financial officer of a company owned by a statutory body as part of its investigation into findings contained in the Royal Commission of Inquiry report on Tabung Haji.
MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman said the third day of questioning lasted more than seven hours at the commission's headquarters in Putrajaya, focusing on allegations of power abuse involving the purchase of shares in two plantation companies valued at about RM370 million.

"The recording of his statement for the third day ended at about 5.30pm and will continue tomorrow for the fourth day," Bernama reported Halim as saying.
Halim said the statement-recording session is expected to resume at 10am tomorrow to complete the investigation.
MCA Youth has hit back at DAP national vice-chairperson Syahredzan Johan for dismissing questions over the Transport Ministry’s oversight following the arrest of a Malaysian pilot in Jakarta allegedly linked to drug trafficking.
Its deputy chief Mike Chong said the issue went beyond the alleged smuggling of narcotics and raised questions over aviation safety, regulatory oversight and whether the flight crew was fit to operate commercial aircraft.

“However, when an incident raises serious questions about aviation safety, regulatory oversight and the fitness of flight crew, it is entirely reasonable for the minister responsible for the sector to investigate and explain what went wrong,” he said in a statement.
Yesterday, Syahredzan responded to Loke’s critics from MCA and labeled them as “low class” for allegedly taking advantage of the incident to target a DAP minister.
Tenaganita executive director Glorene A Das has urged the government to tighten labour protections and employer screening as it expedites 15,000 migrant worker applications.
She warned that rushing recruitment without fixing weaknesses in Malaysia’s labour migration system could repeat problems seen in 2023, when many migrant workers arrived without adequate jobs or support.
“Many were left stranded without jobs, wages or support, exposing them to exploitation and severe hardship,” she said in a statement today.
Tenaganita executive director Glorene A Das Glorene said labour shortages should also be addressed by improving wages, working conditions and labour protections, rather than relying solely on more migrant workers.
She also proposed allowing refugees who are legally permitted to work and introducing a rights-based regularisation mechanism for migrant workers already in Malaysia to fill vacancies.
