The incident occurred at 5.23pm when the cables were caught by the trailer, causing the pole to break at its base and topple onto the black Vellfire, which was stopped in a nearby lane.
The passenger managed to escape unhurt and was later seen assessing the damage to the vehicle.
According to Penang Today, witnesses said they heard a loud crack moments before the utility pole came crashing down.
The incident quickly drew attention on social media, with some users suggesting the Vellfire may have inadvertently prevented the falling pole from striking another vehicle.
One user, Zul Abdul Kader, wrote: "Not all heroes wear capes. Some drive Vellfires. Salute."
Another user, Muhammad Ridzuan, said the pole could have landed on a nearby lorry had the Vellfire not been in its path.
However, Abu Umar Azzahrawayn said that a possible electrical leak could have posed a danger to those in the vicinity.
Emergency services responded to the scene and no fatalities were reported. - NST
