Worker dies after headscarf gets caught in sluice gate machinery

PETALING JAYA:

An irrigation and drainage department worker died after her headscarf became entangled in a sluice gate’s machinery at the Grand Sabak Hotel water gate in Sabak Bernam, Selangor, this afternoon.

Selangor fire and rescue department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received a call at 3.35pm and sent a team from the Sabak Bernam station to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the team found the 56-year-old victim lying on the sluice gate.

“Initial investigations found that the victim’s headscarf had become entangled in the gate roller. She was pronounced dead by health ministry personnel.

“The body was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation,” he was quoted by Bernama as saying. - FMT
