Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that his relationship with BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi remains good, contrary to claims by Umno’s Khairy Jamaluddin.
Dismissing Khairy’s allegation as a “personal opinion”, Anwar asserted that the former minister’s view stemmed from his characteristic as a person who seeks “fights”.
Anwar highlighted that he had thanked Zahid (above, right) and Umno for their roles in leading the unity government earlier during his speech in the PKR national congress at the Melaka International Trade Centre this morning.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, he stressed that he personally viewed such matters through the lens of peace, unlike Khairy.
Previously, Khairy alleged that trust between the premier and his deputy prime minister was at its “lowest point” since the formation of the Madani government.
Anwar said he had yet to receive a letter from six Negeri Sembilan PKR division leaders calling for a review of former menteri besar Aminuddin Harun’s leadership of the party in the state.
Former Negeri Sembilan MB Aminuddin Harun “I have not yet (received) it, but I have been informed. There is no issue. We can discuss the matter,” he told reporters briefly during the PKR national congress.
According to the letter to Anwar sighted by Malaysiakini, the chiefs of Jelebu, Rembau, Tampin, Kuala Pilah, Rasah, and Seremban indicated their dissatisfaction with the state’s top leadership following the party’s performance in the Negeri Sembilan polls.
The six reached their decision in a meeting on Aug 6 at the Seremban division office. - Mkini
