3 killed in Lahad Datu after car plunges into ravine

LAHAD DATU:

Three men were killed and another injured when the car they were travelling in skidded and plunged into a ravine on Jalan Hutan Simpan Bagahak here yesterday.

Lahad Datu fire and rescue station chief Sumsoa Rashid said his department received an emergency call about the incident at 7.38pm. The team arrived at the location at 8.16pm.

Sumsoa said the accident involved a Proton Aeroback which was believed to have skidded while taking a bend before plunging into a ravine about 5m deep.

“Three men were confirmed dead by health ministry personnel at the scene.

“Another man sustained injuries and was sent to hospital for further treatment,” he said in a statement.

The bodies of the deceased victims were handed over to the police for further action. The search and rescue operation ended at 8.45pm. - FMT
