KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 — The Armed Forces (MAF) are lodging a police report against Perak Opposition leader Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin for ‘seditious’ allegations about the force’s involvement with the coming election, Bernama reported.
Armed Forces chief General Tan Sri Zulkefli Mohd Zin said at a news conference that MAF considered the allegations seditious and wanted action taken against those behind them.
The allegations in question were reportedly made by Nizar (picture), who said that the prime minister had met with MAF top brass and senior officials asking them to do “something” should Barisan Nasional lose the next general election.
Nizar claimed the military personnel had refused to comply, saying they would side with the people, leading to an argument.
Also at the news conference were Royal Malaysian Air Force chief General Tan Sri Rodzali Daud, Army chief General Datuk Zulkifli Zainal Abidin and Royal Malaysian Navy deputy chief Vice-Admiral Datuk Mohammed Noordin Ali.
Bernama quoted Zulkefli as saying,”Of late, some irresponsible quarters with vested political interests have been trying to poison the minds of the people with the aim of eroding public confidence in the MAF and ruling government.”
