Tindak Malaysia invites EC chairman Abdul Aziz Yusof to address a forum and shed light on his pronouncement that Malaysia's electoral roll is the cleanest in the world
PETALING JAYA: Election watchdog Tindak Malaysia wants Election Commission chairman Abdul Aziz Yusof to explain his remark that Malaysia’s electoral roll is among the cleanest in the world.
Aziz recently stressed that the existing electoral roll is clean and “no country in the world has a cleaner one than ours.”
He said this in an interview with Chinese daily, Sin Chew Jit Poh published on Saturday.
Wong Piang Yow, Tindak Malaysia founder, said that an invitation had been extended to Aziz last week to attend a forum at the Petaling Jaya Civic Centre auditorium tomorrow night.
Themed, ‘How Clean will the 13th General Election be?’, the forum will be the ideal platform for the EC chairman to shed some light on his claim, said Wong.
“We would really look forward to the participation of the Election Commission chairman to shed light on his claim and to have a meaningful exchange with participants,” said Wong.
Among the speakers at the forum is UCSI academic Ong Kian Ming, who will present a paper titled ‘Problems with the Electoral Roll’.
The forum will also see the participation of Bersih 2.0 steering committee members, the key organisers of the Bersih 3.0 rally this Saturday.
The forum will be moderated by Bar Council’s constitutional committee chairman, Syahredzan Johan.
