Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Koh Tsu Koon said he will only serve in the cabinet until the next general election.
Koh (right), who was sworn in today for his second term as a senator, added that he will not be contesting in the next polls.
“Coincidentally, April 8 marked the completion of my 30 years in full-time political work since 1982.
“Hence, I have sought the prime minister’s understanding that I shall serve in the cabinet only until the coming general election,” said Koh in a statement after the swearing-in ceremony.
The Gerakan chief added that after the 13th GE, speculated to be called in the second half of this year, he will devote himself “full-time to Gerakan until the party elections".

In his role as senator, Koh said he planned to “take the new Rukun Tetangga Act through the Dewan Rakyat after mid-April and Dewan Negara (Senate) in early May”.
This morning five BN leaders were sworn in as senators at a ceremony at the Dewan Negara, Parliament main building.
Along with Koh were Jamil Khir Baharom, Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, Deputy Finance Minister Awang Adek Hussin and Selangor Umno women's wing leader Raja Ropiaah Raja Abdullah.
