Teoh RCI: No word yet from MACC men named
More than eight months after three officers of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) were said to have pressured political aide Teoh Beng Hock into committing suicide, the MACC is still looking into the accusation against them.
After the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) report into Teoh's death was released last July, the MACC complaints committee forwarded "several recommendations on punishments" for the trio, MACC chief commissioner Abu Kassim Mohamed said today.
However, the MACC is still in the process of obtaining "explanations" from the three officers involved in Teoh's questionning.
They are former Selangor MACC investigations unit head Hishamuddin Hashim, investigation officer Mohd Anuar Ismail and assistant superintendent Mohd Ashraf Mohd Yunus.
The RCI findings state that Teoh, after having to endure three strenuous rounds of interrogations, was then put through yet another round of intense interrogation by the three officers.
The RCI postulated that the intense interrogations pushed Teoh to the brink and that he eventually committed suicide.
