Ku Li thinks BN may win only 3 states: Told me to "get ready" to rule Perak again - Nizar
It looks like Umno stalwart Tengku Razaleigh is back in the media spotlight. Regarded as among the handful of principled leaders left in the corruption-riddled Umno, there has been speculation about Ku Li, as he is also known, with many of supporters hoping that he will soon cross over to the Pakatan Rakyat led by Opposition Leader Awar Ibrahim.
But that appears to be too big a step for Ku Li still, as he has ruled out leaving Umno even if he is not selected to be a candidate in the coming 13th general election. However, far from being 'blindly' loyal, Ku Li has not been shy to speak the truth even if it may get him into trouble with Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is also the Umno president.
At a recent function, PAS leader and former Perak chief minister Nizar Jamaluddin told the crowd that came to hear him speak that Ku Li believed the Pakatan would surprise the BN in GE-13.
“Ku Li said that the cattle issue (NFC) had truly affected the hearts of the Malay electorate, particularly those in the villages, as well as allegations linking Rosmah to a diamond ring reportedly valued at US$24 million (RM72 million). PR (Pakatan Rakyat) does not even need to campaign very hard,” Nizar told a forum on the National Higher Education Fund Corporation or PTPTN on Wednesday.
According to Nizar, Ku Li even told him to “be ready” to rule Perak again.  They had met at a recent book launch in Ipoh, said Nizar.
“That was the message from Ku Li. Be ready, he said, it may be very difficult for BN. Perhaps it can only retain three states. He said I am here to make sure you are well-prepared for the uncertainty,” the popular Bukit Gantang MP said.
“Ku Li was more or less saying we should give out the good word. So I think his feedback was more or less what (former Selangor mentri besar) Khir Toyo and what Tun Daim Zainudin had said before."
