Mustapa hardworking but that's not enough to regain Kelantan - Ku Li
KOTA BAHARU -- Gua Musang Member of Parliament Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has hailed Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed's leadership of Kelantan Umno for succeeding in regaining substantial support for the party in Kelantan.
He said Mustapa, who is also International Trade and Industry Minister, was committed in his effort to win the hearts of the people of Kelantan to come back and support the struggle of Umno in the state, which took a beating in the 12th general election.
"Mustapa is hardworking. However, we have to work as a team, as one cannot do everything alone. Everyone must cooperate.
"The coming general election is going to be fiercely fought and Kelantan Umno's chance is always there but several matters in the state incuding the oil royalty issue and national-level issues have to be solved," he said after holding an briefing session and launching the state-level Angkatan Amanah Merdeka (Amanah) here, last night.
Tengku Razaleigh, who was also Gua Musang Umno chief, said Umno in the Gua Musang Parliamentary Constituency, which he headed, had a strong chance retaining the seat the coming general election.
Tengku Razaleigh, the longest-serving Member of Parliament in the country, also denied reports that he would would be contesting as an independent if he was not picked as a candidate by the Barisan Nasional.
