Shah Alam MP and state deputy PAS commissioner Khalid Samad was charged in the Syariah Court today with teaching while not having credentials (tauliah) at Surau Taman Sementa in Kapar, Klang, between 10pm and 11.30pm on Aug 16 last year.
Khalid (right), who pleaded not guilty to the charge, was represented by counsel Muhamad Burok, while the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) prosecutor was Muhamad Saufi Mastorlani.

Muhamad Saufi suggested that bail be set at RM2,500, but this received a strong objection from Muhamad Burok who said it is “quite excessive”.
“The amount was proposed so that (Khalid) will be present at the next hearing. (But), a man like him will certainly not be absent and ignore the court’s orders,” he said, while proposing that bail be set at RM1,500.
Judge Norafizi Fitri Ab Manaf allowed the defendant to be released on RM1,500 bail, and fixed June 7 for the next hearing.
