In a surprising turn of events, PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat paid a visit to DAP chairman Karpal Singh in Penang today.
Nik Aziz arrived in Karpal's house at about 3pm and stayed for 20 minutes.
Karpal's bungalow is thick inside the Penang Thaipusam festival celebrations along Jalan Scotland.
During the visit, Nik Aziz cut his 82nd birthday cake in the midst of DAP, PAS and PKR leaders.
"I was shocked because he arrived earlier than the time, about 30 minutes earlier," a very elated Karpal told Malaysiakini when met.
"I was still bathing but rushed down to meet him. He was fit and jovial. I am really happy to see him," Karpal added.
"His presence sends a strong message that our unity is as strong as ever, despite all that happened," he stressed.
"We understand each other well and we accept our differences."
