MACC denies leaking GE candidates' screening results

The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has denied being  the source of the preliminary screening results leakage of potential election candidates.

It was responding to a Sinar Harian report yesterday, quoting sources, that two federal ministers, a menteri besar and a chief minister had failed the screening.
The parties they belonged to was not stated but it has to be the BN as Pakatan Rakyat parties had refused to submit their lists of potential candidates to the MACC.

"MACC would like to stress the screening of any candidates including menteri besars, chief ministers or the top leadership of parties had never been revealed to anyone other than the parties that had requested the screening," it was quoted as saying in a Berita Harianreport today.

The commission also brushed aside the alleged failed screening, stating that the process was still ongoing, the report said.

The anti-graft body added that the results of its screening are legally non-binding and it was the prerogative of the respective political parties to decide whether or not to nominate their potential candidates based on their findings.
