SEREMBAN- Lim Guan Eng has been accused of purposely delaying submitting his party’s central executive committee (CEC) election report to the Registrar of Societies (RoS), in hope of letting the issue rest.
Branding Lim “a master of deceit”, DAP Ladang Paroi branch vice-chairman David Dass said the DAP secretary-general had resorted to delay tactics as he was not ready to respond to allegations that there were serious discrepancies in the CEC election result.
“He knows just what to do to get out of trouble ... by diverting attention and using stall tactics.
“He is holding back from submitting the report to RoS because the next general election is around the corner and he is hoping that the people will forget about the CEC issue,” he said.
Dass said it was clear that after the uproar which followed the election on Dec 16, Lim had been doing all he could to steer attention away from the issue, as it was evident that DAP was far from multiracial as the party been preaching about.
“It is quiet clear that soon after the election result started being hotly debated, he purposely stirred up the use of the word “Allah” issue, in his Christmas message.
"Why couldn’t he have just wished the people Merry Christmas or drive safe and be done with it ... Why stir up emotions and use religion for his political interest.
“This is definitely not the slogan and objectives of the party," Dass said.
Dass added that Lim’s political game continued when many begun to express their disagreement on his stand on the kalimah “Allah” issue, adding that it was not too long after that, when Lim tried to shift public focus and came out blaming a computer glitch, for the election result fiasco.
"This is just to divert the people's attention yet again, because the kalimah “Allah” issue became too hot for him to handle," he said adding that Lim had been steadily diverting public attention when it comes to issues surrounding DAP, as the party was in deep turmoil.
In a statement issued on Monday, Dass again told Lim to explain to party members the CEC election result fiasco and speedily submit the result to the RoS.
Meanwhile, Registrar Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman was reported saying that the DAP should not delay submitting the report that should come complete with an explanation on the election fiasco, as it had received several official complaints from the party’s members.
With 13 days left before the deadline for DAP to submit the report, the RoS said if the party failed to do so, it would have to give a logical, acceptable and thorough explanation on why it would need more time.
Dass suggested to Lim to engage someone else to prepare the report if he couldn’t or didn’t know how to draw up one.
Under the law, parties which are required to submit party-related reports, including those on their CEC election or annual general and extraordinary meetings, have a 60-day deadline to do so.
