KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 — Muslims in the country must be united to strengthen the struggle to ensure that the sanctity of Islam remains safeguarded.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Muslims were now faced with a great challenge to uphold the integrity of the religion and the strength of the ummah based on the guidance of the Quran and Sunnah.
As such, he said the best recipe was to make the Islamic syariah as a guide in all aspects of life.
“Muslims cannot allow negative elements to tarnish the integrity of our religion.
“This endeavour is certainly not impossible because the Prophet (PBUH) himself had succeeded in guiding the earliest Muslim community to become the best people,” he said in a media statement today in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul 1434/2013 celebration.
In line with the theme of the celebration this year, that is, “Moderation the Pillar for Unity of the Ummah”, Muhyiddin (picture) called on the Muslims in the country to adhere to the teachings of Islam and to carry out all the commands of Allah and his Prophet.
He said the Maulidur Rasul celebration was one way for Muslims to demonstrate their adulation and love for the struggles and sacrifices of the Prophet in spreading the teachings of Islam despite the limitations, and succeeded in uniting the people under one religion.
He called on the Muslims in the country to redouble efforts to become the best people and to be moderate and fair in all their endeavours. — Bernama
